How might we design an app that can aid music directors with tracking and organizing their instrument inventory?
Instances of losing instruments during travelling. Mistakes required back tracking, thus creating a headache for the user. The nature of lending out instruments to students is bound to be tedious so we wanted to create an interface which allows for this process to run as smoothly as possible.
Our user was concerned about maintaining the condition of their instruments so they can be used for years to follow. Because students can sometimes be rough and careless with instruments, a feature to record, acknowledge, and prevent defects and missing parts was essential.
We also wanted to make sure that this process is efficient and fast because the user has communicated the long hours spent on spreadsheets to keep track of their instruments. This has taken away from their valuable time which could otherwise be used for administrative tasks and preparing to teach students.
To enable high school music directors to manage their inventory and programs more efficiently and accurately.
Reduce time and stress required to track instruments and students. Prevent the loss of instruments.
A simple and easy to use app that automatically tracks of inventory, and associated musical activities and tasks.
We are a team of students from the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University. We have developed this app throughout the class of IAT334 Interface Design for our final project. Through many iterations of research, designing, and prototyping, we are pleased to present this app.
